      This book is ok.

I expected it to have a few more practical suggestions and maybe a few images and things to look at and ponder.

However it is just a book that talks about what insomnia does and talks mainly about techniques to help you fall asleep which are already well known to most people.

It was an interesting read and gave me something to do but it didn’t actually help me to get to sleep at all.

It could just be me though, there is every chance it works for some people, it just doesn’t work for me at all.

My ‘new’ book came with a 2014 boarding pass tucked inside. Thankfully I unpacked it–planned for gift giving and would have been pretty embarrassing to have the recipient get a used book.

I don’t have major issues sleeping but I sometimes need a little help nodding off, I found this did just the job, I, will be recommending it to family who I know will benefit from the techniques it offers when you do have a real problem getting to sleep. Enjoyable and it really does make you sleep zzzzzzz

    4. Vera Bowlby

Great book with very good and useful information. I followed the instructions and they worked for me.

    5. cluelessgoon

This is a comprehensive book on sleep and addressing sleeping problems. Hardcore insomniacs (like me) are going to find it lacking in detail though or covering the basics again. This isn’t a critism book really although the style is a little superficial (deliberately).

    6. Amazon Customer

Five star book. It goes through the science side of sleep(as good as we know it) in a not to difficult way to understand. Helping you to understand why we need sleep and also why we may be struggling to get it. Also informs you of effective ways to induce sleep. They’re are several different methods so you can best pick the one(s) right for you. I would highly recommend this book to anyone with sleeping issues. I would also recommend this book to any one just trying to acquire knowledge on our understanding of sleep.

    7. Dr_Whitt

Absolutely brilliantly helpful after post-natal issue lead to my feeling bonkers about sleep and struggling with it nightly. Completely changed my approach and I saw the WHOLE issue completely differently. So, it helped me overcome fundamental hurdles. Honestly can’t recommend this fantastic book enough.

    8. Tom

This is a brilliant little book about sleep. It’s extremely concise and mostly very practical, although at times it’s a little bit too concise and I would have liked more explanation or detail. There are some areas which I didn’t feel were covered sufficiently well, such as the roll of napping in a healthy sleep cycle, and the more extreme elements of sleep loss such as night terrors or lucid dreams. The authors quote a number of studies, but don’t go into much detail or consider other studies which might discount their theories.

However, having said that, this short book has done more to improve my sleep than anything else I’ve ever read. Having suffered from varying degrees of insomnia for most of my adult life, and starting to rely on sleeping pills to ensure a decent nights sleep – I was skeptical that such a short book could make any real difference. But it has. My sleep has improved significantly and I have cut down on the use of sleeping pills almost entirely.

Above all this book gives reassurance and guidance for people who’s own brains prevent them from sleeping. I now feel much more confident about being able to get to sleep at night, and therefore am far more likely to get to sleep.

The bottom line is that, if you struggle with insomnia, you have nothing to loose reading this book (plus, if you find it boring, read it at night and you’ll fall asleep – bonus!)

    9. Tanya

Was so excited to read this book… I’ve tried everything to help me sleep, I’m a dreadful insomniac… Unfortunately it didn’t help me much, it was a interesting read, I read it twice in case I was missing something… Think I’m a lost cause 😞

    10. Rachel Manning

Highlight some interesting facts, slightly boring… it didn’t help with the sleep issue but nor has any other books I’ve read that claim to.
