Hochwertig verarbeitet und aus meiner Sicht sehr schön gestaltet. Wer dies zu schätzen weiß, wird definitiv seine Freude an dem Buch haben. Grundsätzlich ist es ratsam das Buch in einem Buchladen zu bestellen und selbst abzuholen! Insbesondere dann, wenn man es Verschenken möchte. Mein Exemplar wurde von Amazon für den Versand völlig unzureichend verpackt, so dass der Schutzumschlag an den Rändern abgestoßen und eingerissen ist. Da das Buch bei einer Retour sehr wahrscheinlich von Amazon in Gänze vernichtet worden wäre, habe ich es behalten. Die Beschädigungen haben die Freude jedoch getrübt, so dass ich nicht empfehlen kann das Buch bei Amazon zu bestellen. Zumindest dann, wenn man Wert darauf legt ein neuwertiges Buch in den Händen zu halten und keines, das aussieht als wäre es schon diverse Male umgezogen.

Big fan of HP and when I heard of the series of book being illustrated by Jim Kay I didn’t hesitate! Beautiful books and the illustrations are amazing! Consider the book as a piece of art and wouldn’t dare reading them so they don’t get damaged! I have them all so far and waiting for the last one from Jim Kay. Devastated to hear he wouldn’t finish the series..
I highly recommend them to all HP fans!
The books arrived in spotless conditions! They are quite heavy and hard cover with an other cover on top, that is removable and easy to damage so be careful with that part!

Wow! What incredible quality books. My 7 year old son read the 1st illustrated Harry Potter book 5 times in 3 months so it was so well worth purchasing the 2nd one which he’s already devouring. The artist really brings the story to life with incredible illustrations. Honestly worth every penny. Looking forward to collecting all the other books. Simply wonderful, highly recommend!

Anyone who knows me or follows my bookstagram account will know that I love all things Harry Potter. So it will come as no surprise to findthat I simply adore this illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Chamber of secrets, by J.K. Rowling.
I recently published my review of the first book in this series of editions, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and so there is some overlap here.
The book itself is beautifully presented; Jim Kay has wonderfully shaped the style of the book to continue the precedent he set with the first book. In this one, he has really brought the trio of characters – Harry, Ron and Hermione – to life a little more.
I particularly loved how Jim Kay captured the Hose-Elf, Dobby. We of course have a clear idea of Dobby from the movie adaptions, but what I liked here was that Jim Kay used J.K.Rowling’s description of his ‘bat-like ear’s to capture the innocence Dobby exudes. He looks adorable, doesn’t he?
When I first devoured this book – I was blown away by some of the darker elements that Jim Kay has vividly captured. His illustrations of the ghosts, and the Skele-gro are excellent. They are awe inspiring!
Finally, I was really looking forward to seeing how Jim Kay would capture the personality and exuberance of Professor Gilderoy Lockhart. In the films, I think that Kenneth Brannah captures that character’s egocentricity so perfectly, that I was hoping to see the same in the illustrated edition. Alas, to quote Dumbledore, I didn’t feel Jim Kay’s impression was quite right – but I enjoyed it all the same.
