The new 2022 release of Kindle is an absolute gamechanger for avid readers like myself. I have always preferred the convenience and portability of e-readers, and the Kindle has always been my go-to device. But with the latest release, Amazon has truly outdone themselves.
First and foremost, the compact and lightweight design of the 2022 Kindle is a dream come true. As someone who loves to bring my books everywhere, this new version is a gamechanger. It’s so easy to slip into my bag or even my pocket, making it the perfect companion for daily commutes or travel.
However, what truly sets this Kindle apart from its predecessors and other e-readers on the market is its stunning high-resolution display. The 6′, 300 ppi screen provides a crisp and clear reading experience, making it feel like I’m reading from an actual book. I no longer have to strain my eyes or adjust the font size to make the text more readable.

At first I thought this kindle was too small when it arrived but now I love it. So easy to hold and extremely lightweight. Screen is great and it holds battery life really well. Would definitely recommend it, fits well in a handbag.

amazon tells me this is my 6th Kindle, although I can’t remember having that many. I had two kindle keyboards with the physical keypad and page turn buttons, and latterly a 2012 Kindle Paperwhite which seemed to go on for ever. Eventually the battery was starting to have some charging glitches and discharging incosistently, so I knew it was time to make a change.
In looking for a replacement, I decided that:
1) While waterproofing would be nice, I had managed without it so far (none of my Kindles have had this feature, and I haven’t lost one to water damage yet.
2) I liked the small form factor of my 6″ kindle screen, rather than a bigger unit.
Therefore I decided the Kindle basic would suit me best rather than the newest 6.8″ paperwhite. With an amazon deal and trade in on my two old Kindles I got it for a very reasonable price.
I was impressed with the build quality of this device. It does not have a soft back but I almost always use a case to protect the body and screen, so this doesn’t really matter to me. The body feels sturdy and does not bend or flex.
The immediate thing to note is that my last kindle had 212dpi, and this has 300dpi. I can actually see quite a lot of difference in the screen rendering, which surprised me. The backlight is also very even, and can go from off to very bright, so good for any conditions. While the Paperwhite has more flexibility for night time light adjustment, I find the kindle basic ‘dark mode’ works well enough for me.
I also like that the kindle basic is actually slightly smaller and lighter than my old kindle, and a much smaller form factor than the paperwhite. I like to be able to put it in a bag or pocket, so this small size really works much better for me.
The kindle basic has good hardware. The page turning is rapid and responsive. I wish you could adjust the sensitivity however, as it’s easy to accidentally turn the page, but this is similar on all the kindles I’ve tried. Zooming and rendering of pictures is definately faster than my old paperwhite.
I have not as yet tried any of the bluetooth or audiobook features supported by the kindle. I may update this review when I try it. If I do, I will be very glad of the massive 16GB of memory, which is a massive amount of storage for ebooks.
Perhaps the best feature though is the USB-C port. This allows for very fast charging (my old kindle took hours to charge). I believe the battery in the basic is only 1040mAh compared with the 1700mAh on the newest paperwhite, and the basic battery is rated to last 6 weeks rather than the paperwhite’s 10 weeks, but I’m impressed with battery life so far.
Overall I’m really happy with my kindle purchase. It’s worth noting as well that they can be ordered set to your account and are ready to go with minimal fuss. Kindles often go on sale with Amazon for Black Friday or just at random throughout the year, so if you see them reduced they really are a great buy and a lovely way to read, and this kindle, despite the basic moniker, is actually brilliantly specced and executed, and is a great option to consider.

Ich habe sehr lange überlegt ob ich mir eins zulegen soll oder nicht. Habe es nicht bereut mir zu zulegen. Sehr handlich, leicht und passt super in meine Handtasche. Ich kann bei Sonnenschein und im Dunkeln lesen. Die Einrichtung hat super schnell geklappt und das runterladen von Büchern super einfach und schnell.

Nice to look at and comfortable to hold. The screen is illuminated and the brightness is adjustable so you can read in less than perfect light. I particularly like the fact that you can swipe the screen to go forward or back like turning the pages of a real book. I initially found navigation difficult but found a very good 30 minute tutorial by a guy called Manjeetpaul Singh on the internet which I watched a couple of times and found very helpful. All the navigation is by touching the screen unlike the buttons on my, now sadly defunct, 13 year old original Kindle. I also like that you can sync it with your phone once you have downloaded the Kindle app. All in all this is much better than my old Kindle and very good value at the price.

RE EDIT – The battery life of this Kindle is not as good as they claim, I charged the battery to a 100%, but almost a week later, only 57% charge left, no way does this Kindle battery last six weeks. So I will have to knock of one star of my original review because of the battery life.
I traded in my old Kindle for a £5 gift card and 20% of a new Kindle. So I got it a very good price.
Really fast delivery, the Kindle was already registered and set up in my Amazon account, which made using the Kindle for the first time so easy.
Very easy to download books, many for free as well. It feels very lightweight, so is comfortable to hold. The back-lit screen means you can read in low light without a problem.
This Kindle is touch screen operated, so an improvement on my last old Kindle.

Ici c’est le modèle bleu marine avec publicités .Personnellement les pubs cela ne me dérange pas ,cela me permet de payer mon Kindle moins cher et en plus j’ai souvent des recommandations qui sont très intéressantes.
👉 C’est déjà mon troisième appareil Kindle, je possède déjà le tout premier modèle mais aussi le modèle Kindle oasis.
J’ai commandé ce nouveau Kindle car j’avais besoin de quelque chose de plus petit et de plus pratique que je puisse glisser dans mon sac sans avoir peur de l’abîmer, le modèle oasis étant quand même bien plus cher j’ai toujours une appréhension lors d’un transport.
Le nouveau modèle est top ! la liseuse est légère, elle réagit bien à la fonction tactile ! C’est simple et efficace.
👉 Attention il n’y a pas le choix de température au niveau de l’éclairage .
La lumière est blanche mais on peut quand même régler la luminosité.
👉 J’ai l’application Kindle sur mon téléphone ce qui me permet de gérer mon compte et d’envoyer directement les livres de mon téléphone sur la Kindle.
On peut quand même acheter directement les livres sur la liseuse avec une connexion Wi-Fi( Je précise pour les novices).
👉Pour moi ce nouveau modèle c’est clairement une réussite, il est beaucoup plus réactif que la toute première et la praticité est au rendez-vous !
👉Je conseille vivement de prendre une coque de protection et de prendre une coque de la même marque, celles qui ne sont pas officielles sont beaucoup moins résistantes et la protection est moindre (j’en ai testé quelques-unes…).
👉Je recommande à 100 %, pour moi c’est un must have, ça permet de ne pas avoir des livres partout et en plus il y a souvent des promotions sur les ebooks !
