10 reviews for Monopoly – For Sore Losers Edition

    1. Nancy Anne Knorr

When I saw this game, being the sore losers of sore losers and the queen of bad sports (according to my family) I had to have it. After all, it was designed for people like me who, when they play games like Monopoly are dogged by bad luck. I really enjoyed the concept of Mr. Monopoly who then gives those beset by bad luck a fair chance. Also the game is more fast-paced and can and will end in a timely manner (within an hour). Not go on and on for hours like the original can tend to do.

    2. The Wolf

Bought as part of Prime Day. I haven’t had a full game, but tried it out as a solo game with two players (I gave up because I eventually got lost) It is really fun. First major change is the order of play has been reversed – lowest die roll instead of highest die roll goes first. The community chest cards and chance cards are different too, some are unique to this version whilst old ones have been tweaked; for example “you win 2nd prize in a beauty contest (you’re pretty sure the winner bribed the judges)” There are two less properties – Electric company and Water Company have been replaced by Electricity Bill and Water Bill. You start the game with 2 sore loser coins (maybe a mistake in my eyes, but those are the rules) You get a further coin for paying out money, going to jail, landing on your own property, or when instructed to by chance or community chest cards. When you have a maximum of four loser coins you trade them in at the start of your turn for da da da Mr Monopoly. Now every time you land on someone elses property, they pay rent to you, land on Go to Jail, send someone else to jail, get hit with the 150 pound gas bill? the bank gives you 150 pound instead – you are not able to collect sore loser coins whilst you’re Mr Monopoly, nor are you penalised for getting three doubles in a row. If you have 4 coins and are sent to jail, you can get out of there; as well as the usual ways; by becoming Mr Monopoly. As you only need 4 tokens, the Mr Monopoly changes hands quite a lot, which is fair because obviously it can really turn the game. I really like the game…but, no bankers tray. I find this more and more, and its frustrating.

We love monopoly and have all the different types (not the different places!) this is a really fun twist. We really enjoyed it. You get sore loser coins for paying rent, bills, tax, going to jail etc & then you can become Mr Monopoly when you have 4, which means you don’t go to jail, get a house to put on property if someone rolls a double, others pay you rent if you land on their property and more. My eldest who always loses actually won this version!

    4. Jesse

Great version of monopoly that really changes things up. If your luck is down in monopoly its usually game over but this edition changes that. Be warned it can make players clash as taking properties and forcing trades is easy in this version. Good fun though

    5. Akami

Good game but be warned that NOONE is your friend in this version! We had some REALLY heated arguments when playing it. It’s basically the most annoying Monopoly version ever 🤣 Quality is good as always but not sure why there is no bank, I took one from our old Monopoly game. Overall good game but every time at the end we say NEVER AGAIN.

      Brilliant game

    7. Jo

I liked that this Monopoly version had all the familiar properties, but some new rules and a way to end the game in a reasonable amount of time.

    8. Fiona Little

      Great game

    9. Liam Roberts

Finally a really good alternative way to play monopoly. Only played this as a two player game, it works well, easy to get to grips with the changes and quite fun to play. Probably better with more people but it’s good fun.

    10. InTheDark

We’ve played monopoly as a family for many years and this is a great game to add to the collection. We played this as a family and it’s just a mad, crazy version of the game that adds so much more fun to the usual version.

      QUALITY
The board is dark and print is quite small. The property cards are smaller in size than the standard version and the print is quite small on these as well. Because the cards are the same black colour on both sides, it’s difficult to quickly see which properties are mortgaged and which aren’t.

      GAMEPLAY
Despite the issues above the game is great fun to play! The tide of a game can change very quickly once a player collects enough tokens to become Mr Monopoly – if you land on a set with houses/hotels on it, the owner pays you the rent rather than you paying them.

      OVERALL
I’d highly recommend this to anyone who has played the original game but you don’t need to have played it before to enjoy it in this version.
