Price was great as we love playing different monopoly’s for game night but package arrived as if I bought it at a local thrift store and definitely was not pleased with the appearance.

Arrived earlier than expected. Well what can we say but Monopoly apart from it is a great family game and the fake cash is a great twist on the original. Will be played for many years to come.

It’s a good gift, but it’s very hard to determine if the money is fack or not, because there is a specific position the magnifier has to be in order to see if the money is fake or not, which take a while to figure out, so eventually we gave up and played by the normal way

We hold a weekly family games nights and are always looking for games to play. Monopoly has for a long time been one of their favourites and twists on this classic are something the kids are always keen to try.
The Monopoly Cash Decoder game is all about monopoly but the twist of the decoder makes it just that little bit different.
Game play is very similar to the game we are all familiar with, however, within the pack there is fake cash and fake chance cards which can only be identified using the decoder.
Players are able to use coins to challenge the other players and use the decoder to identify whether the cash is fake or not. they only get a few coins to play however so they need to be careful how they use them.
Instead of having taxes, utilities, or buying railroads, players can hop on a train and quickly go to an unowned property.
We have only played it once so far but it was received warmly as a fun alternative. The decoder is a bit gimmicky but is something different. if you are into monopoly and interested in trying alternatives then this one is probably worth a go.

Overall ok it’s a Monopoly as pictured. The name on it has changed a bit from the picture but same game. I am giving 1 star for getting it damaged and not being able to return it as the return window was too small when I was giving as a gift.

This is a version of monopoly which initially suited our family. It doesn’t take quite as long to play where the original takes too long for us.
The fake cash detector is fun and we had no issues using it, it adds an extra element to the game.
My kids enjoyed the auction process for properties.
All in all a successful purchases, so why 3 stars?
Hasbro have really cut costs on this version. A typo in the instructions shows quality control was poor. The flip counters made out of cardboard feel cheap. The box itself lacks any organisation unlike the original so all the money, properties, chance and community chest cards etc. just float around in the box.
It also comes with a bag full of houses and hotels, just like the original but it appears that houses aren’t even used in this version!
A few of the chance cards and community chest cards aren’t really clear depending on the scenario that they occur during and we had to make parts up – which isn’t ideal.
In general it feels like a cheap copy – I may have complained that it was a fake itself if it wasn’t for the fact that it was from Amazon directly and many if the other reviews are similar.
One final thing that really put the rating down, was that at the end of the first game my 10 year old son proudly announced that he could tell if they were fake or not instantly without using the detector – we tested him on about 20 notes, then checking with detector and he was correct on every single one!! Annoyingly part of the mask, which shows it is fake, can be seen in the pattern without the detector, once you’ve seen it, it is so easy to see.
We now have to play with that part of the notes covered, and we have to pass the notes covered. The only real downside to this is we all now know if we are paying with fake notes (in the game you aren’t allowed to check your own cash) – so we can use fake notes on purpose when all the counters are red knowing that nobody can check.
So generally a disappointment from this game. The only reason it isn’t 2 stars or lower is that for under a tenner it was reasonable value – I wouldn’t recommend it at anything above a tenner though. I’ve 3D printed an organiser for the box which improves storage (I’ll upload to thingiverse at some point if anyone wants to print one)

Great board game for all the family. Played with a 6 year old and two 7 year olds who loved it. We slightly changed the rules of the magnifying glass for the real and fake money as it’s fairly hard to tell the difference so we left it to the banker

Good game for all the family

Monopoly is a classic board games that’s teaches kids great lessons about the fundamentals of the commercial world as well core maths and budget skills.
I especially like this version as it adds another dimension to the the game by introducing fake money and tasks with the ability to detect if its fake or not. Which is another great lifeskill kids can learn from this game by not taking everything at face value and each action has hidden risk/rewards.
I like this version as it teaches kids due diligence, which is a useful core skill to have in a world with fake goods and fake news, well done to Hasbro for adding a great twist to the all time classic!
